Saddle up!

Getting started in horseback riding begins with the right equipment—pieces that keep you comfortable, confident, and safe in the saddle.

Well-fitting breeches provide grip and flexibility for proper position, while paddock boots offer the support and stability every rider needs on the ground and in the stirrup.

Most importantly, a helmet is non-negotiable. Helmets should always be properly fitted in a store to ensure correct sizing and maximum protection. Investing in the right basics from the start sets you up for a safer, more enjoyable riding journey.

FAQ

Is it too late to start riding?

Of course not! With a good coach and your own physical comfort in mind, riding is totally doable.

What are the levels of riding?

Riding doesn’t have fixed levels. You’ll progress through stages, but it’s a sport where learning never stops and the basics always matter.

What do I need to start?

Its a good idea to reach out to you farm/ riding instructor to check in on what you need. Generally it's a good idea to wear closed toed shoes (with a small heel is a plus), appropriate fitting clothes, long pants, and bring a helmet. And of course ask if it is okay to bring the horse a carrot!
